Friendly staff, enjoyable food, good atmosphere

  • Older travelers

Fantastic, spacious, comfortable room with excellent features - the hotel is a delight to look around. Great location - that bit of Morecambe has had some interesting developments that are worth exploring for an afternoon.

The standard of food in the dining room fall a little bit short of what you might hope. Baked figs with blue cheese was made with figs that were tasteless, the apple sauce couldn't carry it and there wasn't enough balsamic dressing to compete - in the end it tasted like blue cheese mixed with cardboard (it sounds fantastic - sweet figs, balsamic, blue cheese - but in execution approached the nasty), Perhaps I was unlucky - my companions enjoyed their food and the main I had was much better (though the asparagus seemed a little anodyne compared to the British stuff I can buy in the supermarket at this time of year).

Firstly, the fantastic restoration job on the hotel. Absolutely excellent. It felt like we were staying somewhere special which was important as it was our first wedding anniversary. The meal in the restaurant was first class and the staff even dressed our table for us. The choice of wines was impressive and our bottle of Barolo was superb. The Bring me sunshine cocktail was very enjoyable too! The staff were very friendly and efficient throughout our stay. Overall it was an excellent experience.

the only criticism I would make is that I was disappointed with my cooked breakfast. I opted for the full English but don't like eggs or black pudding. Instead of offering alternatives it came with the remaining items and was meagre. On the other side of the coin my wife had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and thought it was superb.

Beautiful building sympathetically restored to it's former art deco grandeur. Good staff, good food, modern and high spec rooms, Hotel right on the waterfront

Wedding reception on at the hotel at the time of our stay tended to crowd out the casual guests. No baths in the room, only showers. The rest of Morecombe lets down the wonderful hotel but Lancaster is close by.

  • Older travelers

impressive style and reminescent of a time of grandeur- Hercule Poirot theme to be developed more. Rooms very good but maybe more little details e.g. chocs or minature bottles.

So enjoyed stay but hesitant to return because of price.£180 too expensive without any extras

  • Couple

The setting right on the seafront was great. It was lovely eating our evening meal looking out over the sea. The room was spacious, very comfortable, extremely clean and enjoyed a great view. We would definitely stay here again.

We thought the food was rather overpriced. Breakfast and lunch were good but we were a little disappointed with the evening meal and the afternoon tea. Not enough sandwiches on the afternoon tea and a rather limited menu for the evening meal.

  • Older travelers

interesting architecture and rooms clever and interesting layout. Takes dogs

    Breakfat was appauling...completely dried out

  • Older travelers

We like the art deco facade, and the sympathetic refurbishment of the interior. The views over Morecambe Bay are also impressive. This is the second time we've had a "break" at the Midland, and it won't be the last.

Service at the bar was slow. We had to wait five minutes before we had the chance to ask for the cocktail menu, by which time we could have already have decided what to have.

  • Group of friends

Beautiful hotel with excellent staff, wonderful location in the heart of Morecambe.

    Nothing to dislike!

  • Older travelers

The spacious room, 116 with a large balcony + sea view. Ample free parking close to the entrance. The restaurant, excellent staff, ambiance, table layout. The design of the room layout with facilities built in but not showing.

The dinner menu did not change from day to day, only the "specials". The dinner menu did not cater for vegetarians in that neither of the 2 main courses contained any protein - I mentioned this to the waitress to tell the chef; - also very little choice for vegetarians. The portion sizes were very large - a smaller portion main course for a smaller price would allow us to enjoy a dessert, which we did not.

  • Older travelers

Excellent recently renovated art deco building right on the waterfront in Morcambe overlooking the lake disrict. Stunning views from sea rooms and fantastic sunsets in the right weather as we had. Good staff and excellent restaurant. The only reason to visit Morcambe.the hotel has been sympathetically restored with the rooms being very modrern and comfortable

No complaints other than the rest of Morcambe lets it down somewhat

  • Family with children

Restaurant - dinner and breakfast excellent service - excellent We have visited before and would come again - it's expensive - for us - but worth it.

  • Older travelers

Superb building, outstanding location, professional, efficient, friendly & helpful staff. A bit pricey, but you gets what you pay for. A more than excellent three day break.

  • Older travelers

Exterior and interior art deco features mixed with contemporary aspects of room and retaurant/cafe areas were even better than we expected. The display of photographs of the original hotel was excellent - we intend to visit the website to see more. Our seaview was wonderful - we were particularly lucky with the weather which allowed for a spectacular sunset. The 1930s music in the retaurant was a nice touch.Staff were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast in a wonderful setting. All in all a memorable experience!

  • Older travelers
